In the bustling photography scene of Beaumont and Houston, Texas, Alfred Beverly II stands as a beacon of talent and passion. A seasoned freelance portrait photographer, Beverly balances a career as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer spanning 28 years with his creative pursuits. By day, he serves with dedication; by night, he channels his artistic energy into photography and graphic design, notably contributing as the lead photographer for his church.

At the heart of his artistic journey is Charis Photography, a venture he founded in 2007. Rooted in Beaumont, Texas, Charis Photography embodies its Greek namesake, “grace, kindness, and life.” Beverly’s love for photography began at home, inspired by his father’s constant companion: a camera. Family vacations and events were always captured on film, sparking a young Beverly’s interest. The journey from snapping childhood memories to becoming a professional photographer was one of self-discovery and determination. “Every piece of work you see from me is self-taught,” Beverly shares. “It’s all learned through trial and error, with countless hours of dedication.”

Beverly’s early photography work was a labor of love, offered freely to friends and family. It wasn’t until two close friends suggested he charge for his services that he saw the potential for a thriving business. Seventeen years later, Charis Photography is going strong, specializing in capturing life’s milestones—from high school and college graduates to weddings, models, and branding sessions for boutique owners. Among his varied genres, working with high school seniors holds a special place in his heart. “Getting to know them and helping them express their personalities through photography is a real joy,” he says.

Beyond the lens, Beverly’s ultimate mission is to ensure every client has an unforgettable experience. “I ask each client, ‘Did you have fun?’” he says. “Seeing a smile on their face and joy in their hearts means I’ve done my job right.” He takes pride in building lasting relationships with clients, with many returning for repeat sessions and recommending him to others.

A passionate mentor, Beverly believes in sharing his craft with aspiring photographers. “Love what you do and do what you love,” he advises. “Dedicate yourself to your craft, and it can take you to places you’ve never imagined.” His career is a testament to this philosophy, with an impressive portfolio that includes breathtaking landscapes from Alaska to Puerto Rico, urban charm from New York to California, and vibrant vistas from the Bahamas and Mexico.
