CURVES OF STRENGTH - Where Curves Can Do It All!

QSM: Tell us a little bit about Sheena.

Sheena: I am the COO of Curves of Strength. I am excited to have this business adventure presented to me and to have the opportunity to build something amazing. I am also the founder and creator of my very own Social Media Coverage Company, Bilonn’s Vision L.L.C.  where I provide ultimate experience services for events. I’m also a signed model with Bicoastal Management, a lifestyle influencer, a healthcare social worker, and a mental health provider who enjoys sharing resources with everyone that crosses my path. Nonetheless, I enjoy traveling, trying new activities, being assertive, hard-working, and reliable. 

QSM: Tell us a little bit about Joy.

Joy: I am Joy, the Founder and Co-creator of Curves of Strength (C.O.S.). I am also a Syndicated Talk Show Host/Podcaster of Coffee with JOY. I have been on the air for two seasons and have interviewed a range of exciting guests from solo artists to entrepreneurs. My show is grounded on normalizing difficult conversation within all fields of life. I also created CHUCKS & COFFEE Give Back, a community service base program where we give to a non-profit organization doing tremendous work in the community! Proud to say, CHUCKS & COFFEE Give Back is entering its second year of giving.

QSM: What is Curves of Strength?  

COS: Curves of Strength is an organization that provides a space where the plus size community can flourish.  We are a community of people who share and cultivate ideas for a greater change, and movement for all things fashion and forward!

QSM: Both of you have pretty successful careers in the fashion industry. What led you to start Curves of Strength?

COS: We both noticed a lot of change once the world suffered through the pandemic. We felt the excitement of celebrating one another was low so curating a fresh brand would help lift the moral of our community of friends, family, and future brand partnerships. Joy had a wonderful idea and then reached out to Sheena to join forces to bring C.O.S to the surface. The brand was a year and half in the making before it launched on April 17th 2023. We are excited to see this brand blossom and reach so many people.

QSM: What can we expect from Curves of Strength?

COS: People can expect a safe space, innovative conversations, passion and boldness. People can expect change! 

QSM: What makes COS different? 

COS: We wouldn’t say that C.O.S. is different, but an addition to the current culture of plus community and fashion. We saw a need and we thought we would be a great business pair to add something new. We believe we can add to the wheel of opportunity, highlighting the fact that people can be represented without their size being a factor to a decision. 

QSM: With everything that you both do, where are you finding the time to do more?

COS: LoL, there is never ever enough time but because we have passion for the things that we do. We find the time by intentionally creating a space of open communication and planning is the common denominator. We know this is a marathon, not a sprint and we are blessed to be able to balance it all. When you’re driven by passion, time is never a factor.

QSM: You ladies have a launch coming up in June. Congratulations!!!! Without saying too much, what can we expect? 

COS: Our launch is on Saturday, June 17th in Washington DC. Come meet the creators and join us for a day of fun and learn more about what to expect from C.O.S. Tickets are available via Eventbrite.

QSM: I am extremely proud of you both. All that you have accomplished and all that you will accomplish; keep up the great work. Any final thoughts you want to share?

COS: We want the world to know that your voice and ideas matter. We are partnering to grow and show that it’s not always about competition but collaboration. Learning from one another can enlarge your knowledge and reach. C.O.S. is Where Curves Can Do It All!
