A SIZZLING ISLAND ESCAPE IN THE HEART OF DC
This year’s Swim & Fashion Week Xperience (SFWX), powered by Role Models 808, turned up the heat on Saturday, August 31st, right in the heart of downtown DC. Known as the area’s hottest annual swim and fashion show, this year’s event embraced a theme that had everyone calling for an encore—Hana Hou, Hawaiian for "encore." With a nod to the breathtaking spirit of the islands, the show brought island vibes to the capital, turning the city into a tropical oasis that took fashionistas, influencers, and industry elites on a stylish getaway without ever leaving the district.
From the moment you walked in, you could feel the pulse of the islands—Hawaiian performances greeted guests with hypnotic hula movements, and the sounds of island rhythms filled the air, transporting everyone to a dreamy Pacific paradise. Of course, no island experience is complete without food, and SFWX delivered with ono grinds, the Hawaiian slang for "delicious food." Attendees were treated to flavors that echoed the warm shores and tropical breezes of Hawaii.
But the real star of the show? The fashion! Eighteen talented designers took to the runway, each one pushing boundaries and showing off the latest trends in swimwear and fashion. From bold bikinis to glamorous cover-ups and statement beachwear, the collections dazzled with vibrant colors, innovative designs, and textures that made every piece pop. Whether it was local talent representing the DC area or international designers with island flair, the diversity on display was a feast for the eyes.
The show was expertly produced by none other than Alexis Renae, a seasoned Model Coach and International Model, who brought her expertise and flair to ensure that the event ran smoothly from start to finish. Alexis’ careful curation of designers and attention to every detail ensured that this year’s SFWX was nothing short of extraordinary.
Per usual, we had to share some of our favorite looks from the runway. With daring cutouts, tropical prints, and show-stopping beachwear looks, it was impossible to pick just one standout. From breezy island-inspired sarongs to eye-catching swimsuits, the collections were a bold celebration of individuality and flair. SFWX 2024 didn’t just deliver a fashion show; it delivered an experience. The fusion of DC’s vibrant energy with island culture created a celebration that was both fun and unforgettable. There was no need to pack a suitcase or book a flight—the islands came to us, complete with everything that makes them magical: culture, fashion, and of course, an "aloha" spirit.
