MS. FULL-FIGURED DMV 2022 - THE YEAR OF THE HEART

Saturday, August 20th went a little like this….. We packed the house ready to see who was taking home crowns. But we weren’t ready for what the Queens was bringing that night. The emotions and excitement were all over the place. But wait, let me not get ahead of myself. I am getting excited all over again. If you have never had the Lorrine Ross Experience then you don’t understand and I strongly you suggest you be in the building next year.

A little history for those that don’t know. Ms. Full-Figured DMV pageant is a division of the Ms. Full-Figured U.S.A pageant system orchestrated by The Queen herself, Ms. Theresa Randolph also known as the Queen of NJ. Over 30 years ago, Ms. Theresa and her partner Jackie was sitting on the stoop in NJ can came up with the concept of the pageant. Over the years, one pageant became a whole pageant system spread over many states in the US.

In 2016, Lorrine competed in the Ms. Full-Figured U.S.A pageant. She didn’t place, but she did take home a crown for Ms. Swimwear 2016. Not only that, but she was also crowned D.M.V Pageant Director and thus the Lorrine Ross Experience LLC was born. In 2017 Lorrine produced her first pageant and has been going strong since then.

Queen Size Magazine has been a supporter of the pageant for many years. We have attended several pageants in various states. The unity and sisterhood of this pageant system can be seen with every pageant you attend, no matter what state you go to.

Ok, now that I took you to school, let’s get back to this pageant. Ten ladies hit the stage at THEARC Theatre in Washington DC to compete for crowns. Each contestant, each round was jaw dropping. It didn’t matter who you were there rooting for, they were all so good that we found ourselves screaming after each walk and performance. The bar was set high from the first contestant and just went up from there.

I felt sorry for the judges because as cliché-ish as it sounds, they had their work cut out for them. As a former judge I can tell you that this is a hard job. Oh, let me give a shout out Judges Queen Myja Gary (Miss Black USA 2021, Host, Speaker, Podcaster & Zoom Communications Manager), Jeannie Ferguson (International Petite Plus Model, Actress and Runway Coach), Yashica Wimberly (Fashion Stylist), Nathainel Jaye (Hair Guru, Salon Owner, Master Stylist at Nathaniel Jaye Hair) and Kenyatta Johnson (Executive Producer of I Rock My Curves The Best, Travel Agent, Logistics Expert and Author)

Theses Queens came to SLAY and not PLAY. Congratulations to all of the Queens who became winners from the time they decided to compete. But a special congrats to the official winners that night.
