Cam: Many people don’t know that I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. I grew up a genuinely happy and loving kid. I was very active and well-rounded in so many areas. I was involved in organized and recreational sports like football, basketball, tennis, and golf. I played the cello and double bass for 10 years in the Arkansas Youth Symphony and All Region Orchestra. My strengths were also highlighted in various fields of the performing arts like theater, sketching, and painting. Lil Cam had such a big heart and big personality. I originally aspired to become a doctor because I loved helping people, but the creative world had my heart. Although, I’m in a totally different profession, that same sentiment transpired in my adulthood as I continuously help to improve the state of Big & Tall Community.

QSM: Growing up, did you ever see yourself as a model? What was or is your career goal?

Cam: I never saw myself as a model growing up, but I did see myself as a role model. I envisioned myself becoming famous and inspiring people through my talent and creativity. I always imagined that one day I will see myself on television or even a billboard. I was never really shy and wanted the world to see the greatness that I saw within myself. As far as my career now, I’m definitely on the right path towards making that dream become a reality.

QSM: How did this modeling journey of yours began?

Cam: My career started during Shaq’s Big & Tall Model Search with JCPenney & Wilhelmina during the summer of 2019. From that audition I was scouted by a JCPenney executive and signed with Kim Dawson Agency in Dallas, Texas. I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, and everything happens in our lives how it’s supposed to happen. Therefore, I’m glad that I started my modeling career later in life because it gave me an opportunity to mature and truly understand the industry. I had a chance to figure out my purpose and what I really wanted to do in life. I’ve had so many major accomplishments and success stories that built and fed off of this one experience.

QSM: Every time I have seen you; you have always been in work mode. Are you typically serious Cam most of the time? What do you like to do for fun?

Cam: I’m actually the Life of the party, but I grew up with an old school mentality. There is always a time and a place for things and when it’s time to get things done, I become very focused on the goal or mission. My life is the epitome of “work harder, play harder.” So when it’s time to have fun, I love partying and celebrating occasions with friends and family, whether that be at an event, on vacation, or small gathering.

QSM: The Big & Tall industry has come a long way, and much like the rest of the plus industry, we still have a lot more work to do. What changes do you want to see and what is Cam’s contribution to that change?

Cam: I want to see more diversity and inclusion on campaign advertisements, more options for extended sizes that are actually fashionable, and more representation on the runway during Fashion Week. I’ve partner with my peers who have helped me launched The Bigger Picture, which is a movement of plus-size men that created our own campaign, our own network, and our own narrative.

QSM: You have had amazing opportunities during your career so far. What are your thoughts on signed modeling opportunities vs un-signed modeling opportunities?

Cam: Honestly, un-signed modeling opportunities have taken my career to the next level especially when I won the DXL Big Model Search. Signed model opportunities keep me paid, but the un-signed gigs got my name out there and displayed my grassroots as a personal brand and influencer.

QSM: Word on the street is that you also have clothing line. Can you share more on that?

Cam: Yes, my clothing brand is shopsizedoesmatter.com. We believe that all sizes matter. Every person deserves to see themselves in the clothes they want to wear and feel amazing about the skin they're in. Here at shopsizedoesmatter.com, our mission is to curate amazing looks that fit and feel like luxury while accessing the best materials available in the supply chain to keep our products affordable for all. We want you to love the way you look no matter what size or shape you may be.

QSM: Tell me about the other layers of Cam. Don’t sell yourself short here. Give us the deets. Lol Single? On the market?

Cam: My overall well-being is most important to me at this moment. I’m really focused on myself as I strive every day to become a better person physically, spiritually, and emotionally. I’m a huge advocate for mental health and I’m not trying to just survive life anymore, but to actually live it doing what makes me happy regardless of what anyone else thinks or feels. I’m chasing my dreams full speed and having fun while doing it.

QSM: In other words, none of our business lol lol. I love it! Can you share where people can follow you Cam and reach you for possible bookings. Thank you so for your time, and all you do for the Big & Tall industry.
