SO LONG TO SUMMER
It's that time of year where we say "so long" to summer and what the heck do I wear now? but of course that doesn't mean we have to immediately get rid of all of our summer fashion. It's sometimes tricky to automatically know how to transition your summer clothes into fall, so getting ideas of how to use old pieces to create something new is key. You don’t want to pack away all your cute sundresses and shorts just yet? no problem, but we also don’t want to be caught unprepared when the temperature starts to drop. The weather may be cooling down, but that doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to that summer wardrobe you completely adore just yet. With just a few simple tips and tricks added to your repertoire, you can easily transition your summer clothes into fall.
So how do we make that transition into to welcoming one of the best seasons of the year you ask? Let's start the process by sorting through summer clothes and setting aside the items that you know you won’t wear again. This will make it easier to find the pieces that you want to take that journey with you into fall. Next, let's take a look at the colors and patterns in the pile of pieces lucky enough to make the cut. You can usually transition most summer colors into fall simply by partnering them with darker colors. A great example of this transition hack is taking a white sundress and partnering with a black cardigan and boots to complete the look. Let's not forget about transitioning those patterns as well, just because it's floral, that doesn't mean it can't make the cut. Adding a simple jacket in denim, could be just what the fashionista ordered! Something as simple as adding a cardigan or jacket is the perfect way to take your summer dresses and tops into fall.
Fabrics can be a friend or foe when it comes to your summer clothes. Lightweight fabrics such as linen and cotton can definitely be worn into fall, but once you add a cardigan or turtleneck to the equation, it's a go for extra warmth. Adding some texture like knitwear, velvet, and leather are all great fabrics to transition into fall. Layering is key for a successful transition. Putting a long-sleeved shirt or sweater over or under your summer dresses and tops is a winner. Don't be afraid to swap your sandals for closed-toe heels, shoes or boots as the weather starts to cool down. If the fabric you have on is warmer, try pairing it with a shoe that breathes, and vice versa. Must have items in your transaction pile should include, but definitely not limited to Jeans, Booties, a light pullover sweater or turtleneck, a button up blouse, a midi or maxi dress, a blazer, denim jacket, and a white tee for layering. After following these styling tricks, you’ll be able to transition from summer to fall with ease.
